Bookkeeping that makes everything else easier

Good books are not an administrative nicety. They are what makes your BAS painless, your tax return accurate and your business decisions based on something other than the bank balance.

Most of the expensive problems we fix at year end started as a bookkeeping problem. Transactions coded to the wrong account, GST claimed on GST-free purchases, personal spending mixed into the business, loans recorded as income. None of it looks serious in March. All of it costs money in October.

We keep books in Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks — working in your existing file, cleaning up one that has drifted, or setting you up properly from scratch. Because the same firm prepares your BAS and your annual return, the books are maintained by people who know exactly what those documents will need from them.

That is the real argument for having your bookkeeping and your accounting under one roof. A bookkeeper working in isolation produces a file that balances. A bookkeeper working alongside your tax agent produces a file that is ready.

What’s included

What we look after

01

Bank reconciliation

Feeds connected and reconciled regularly, so the file reflects reality rather than a three-month-old snapshot.

02

Transaction coding

Coded to a chart of accounts that actually suits your business, with GST treatment applied correctly the first time.

03

Payroll and STP

Wages, superannuation, leave accruals and Single Touch Payroll reporting managed and lodged on time.

04

Accounts payable and receivable

Supplier bills and customer invoices tracked, so you know what is genuinely owed to you and by you.

05

File cleanup and migration

Inherited a file that does not reconcile? We fix historical coding, clear suspense accounts and migrate between platforms without losing history.

06

Software setup and training

Set up from scratch on the platform that suits your business and budget — plus enough training that you are not dependent on us for everything.

How it works

Getting your books under control

Step 1

File review

We look at your current file — or your shoebox — and tell you honestly what shape it is in.

Step 2

Cleanup

Historical errors corrected, suspense accounts cleared and the chart of accounts restructured if it is fighting you.

Step 3

Ongoing rhythm

Weekly, monthly or quarterly maintenance depending on volume, with bank feeds doing the heavy lifting.

Step 4

Numbers you can use

Current, reconciled accounts — so BAS is a formality and tax planning happens on real figures.

Bookkeeping quoted to your volume

Bookkeeping is priced on transaction volume and how much cleanup the file needs, so we quote it after looking at your situation rather than guessing. For most sole traders and small companies it sits inside a Care Plan — from $165 a month including quarterly BAS, your annual return and unlimited phone and email support.

FAQ

Bookkeeping questions

For most small businesses, Xero is the easiest to live with day to day. MYOB suits businesses with more complex inventory or payroll, and QuickBooks is often the most economical at the smaller end. We work in all three, so the recommendation depends on your business rather than what we happen to prefer.

It is extremely common and it is fixable. We quote the cleanup separately from ongoing work so you can see exactly what the historical fix costs versus what maintenance will cost going forward. Nobody here is going to make you feel bad about it.

Absolutely, and for a lot of businesses that is the right call. We can set the file up properly, train you on it, and review it quarterly when we prepare your BAS — which catches problems while they are still small. That is often the best value option for an owner who does not mind the admin.

Yes — wages, PAYG withholding, leave accruals, superannuation guarantee and Single Touch Payroll reporting. Super deadlines in particular are worth getting right, because late payments are not deductible and the shortfall charge is not cheap.
